AHAM Vastgoed is a contender for the Amsterdamse Architectuurprijs 2025
We are proud to share that our project De Telefoondienst has been nominated for the Amsterdam Architecture Prize 2025. The nomination is a wonderful recognition of the careful transformation of this distinctive building, where living and working come together and its original character has been strengthened with a new, future‑proof function.
The transformation and extension of the former Telephone Exchange from 1923 were designed by Ronald Janssen Architecten. What was once a place for servers and patch cabinets has been reimagined as a building where history and the future meet. With great respect for its characteristic historical details, 33 apartments have been created — including social and mid‑range rental homes — complemented by (semi-)commercial space. The care and attention invested by Ronald and his team are evident throughout the building and its surroundings and are appreciated daily by its residents.
Construction was carried out by Bouwers van Braam Minnesma. As a certified restoration specialist, their craftsmanship and expertise in monumental buildings came fully into their own. J. Jonker en Zonen designed the semi‑public entrance garden as a natural connection between the park and the building. Through the (re)use of sustainable materials designed to last for generations, both the building and its surroundings have been given a new life — in keeping with their historical significance and meaning.
The winner of the Amsterdam Architecture Prize 2026 will be announced on Wednesday 10 June 2026 during a festive award ceremony at a location yet to be revealed in Amsterdam‑Noord.
